At age 20 you you are already doing some the things an artist needs to do to get their name out there like teaching and commission work and a website. Always keep business cards on you to hand out. I don't see what town or city you are from. If you live in a city with a thriving art scene, get to know the players, both artists and gallery owners. In the art world like many other professions, it is who you know. That being said, you still have to have the talent. A unique style that separates you from other artists, even if it's just a niche style art. Gallery owners want know you have a track record of sales. That comes with time. Create a physical portfolio you can show them if they ask. It needs a bio and artist statement in that portfolio. I helped start an artists co-op in my small town and that's been hugely rewarding. Join one in your town and ask the more successful artists how they got to where they are with their art sales. Artists seem to be good at the creative stuff, no so good with marketing but you can do it. Taking a marketing class is a good idea but you will learn more in one or two good sit down business lunches with a successful artist "willing to share marketing strategies," than just about anything out there.
