(more) My first question would be: "Do you have disability insurance" to see if you could pay for the Life insurance if you were disabled due to an accident or sickness. If "no", that could take the conversation in another direction. If that was "Yes" then a series of questions would isolate where to start and many of them are listed in the replies. A person with annual income of $500,000 will have different purposes than someone earning $50,000 and that's where it starts. What is needed can be arrived at fairly simply when you meet with an agent that has had some years under their belt and lived through mistakes and successes clients have made. Find a good agent with experience, looks at the big (your) picture and is not driven by commissions. There is a difference!
