As of 2015, having registered with the Internal Revenue Service and been issued a preparer tax identification number (PTIN), Karlene is admitted to the Preparer Tax Identification Network and the National Alliance of Tax Preparers. As of 2016 Karlene Olesuk is a member of various national association(s)/society of tax professionals and in Phi Theta Kappa, the worlds largest, oldest and most prestigious honor society serving two-year colleges around the world. By invitation only, after successfully running a new business for a certain number of years, as of 2021 Olesuk Tax Service became a member of the BBB.

For many years Karlene helped as an office manager within an independent financial services and tax preparation small business. In 2015 she and her mother/co-worker completed a business continuity plan transitioning the tax preparation portion of the business from Frank Olesuk to Karlene Olesuk and the financial planning portion to another financial planner while continuing to operate a professional office building in McHenry and look for renters of the professional office space.
