Land Art Design is a woman-owned design-build landscaping company serving residential clients for over 30 years in Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C. Our scope of work includes patios and verandas, arbors & pergolas, terraced retaining walls, custom fences & gates, swimming pools, spas, water features, screened porches, decks & porticos, sunrooms & conservatories, sheds and outbuildings, outdoor dining areas, fireplaces, grills and fire pits, ornamental ironwork, driveways, porticos, and naturally-beautiful ornamental plantings. Our staff includes professional landscape designers & architects, stone masons, carpenters, landscapers and painters. We are a class 'A' licensed contractor.

How We Got Started

I loved being industrious , outdoors , creative , my college liberal arts degree left me looking for more. Upon discovering the landscape world I went back to school at the GW landscape design program and stated my own business soon after graduation.

How often do you clean your rain gutters, downspouts, and ground drains?

Typically gutters and downspouts are done in fall and spring, however if your home is located amongst several large hardwood trees you need to add a third cleaning. It’s important that gutters are clean during the winter months and in late summer when the heavy rains come in. Early and late Fall and then again after the pollen has fallen in late spring. 
Is anyone else having trouble with Homeadvisor?

My only experience with home advisor was a lengthy discussion on how they work which resulted in my decision NOT to use them. It’s a win win for them and cumulative fees for the contractor. They get paid just for the initial contact , you could meet with 10 homeowners who are simply shopping and... (more) My only experience with home advisor was a lengthy discussion on how they work which resulted in my decision NOT to use them. It’s a win win for them and cumulative fees for the contractor. They get paid just for the initial contact , you could meet with 10 homeowners who are simply shopping and you’d have to pay them for everyone .

Projecting into 2019, what do you plan to spend more money on?

The means by which anyone under 40 is going to seek out product, services etc is through social media. I do feel direct word of mouth will remain the number one means of getting business but we will all now need ALL of the social media platforms to get our business so my bucks are going there.  (more) The means by which anyone under 40 is going to seek out product, services etc is through social media. Have you found that paid ads generate significant revenue, or just likes?

Well I haven’t gotten on board with the like thing too much as of yet, I do realize that the new generation will most likely use the 5 Star “like” rating for just about everything. I do not do ads, I do post my work on social media as I believe ones work should speak for itself. I’ve been in... I’ve been in business for 34 years so word of mouth and signs on my trucks are my biggest source of new business.
