ROGER GLENN SEPT
I have been a licensed Funeral Director since 1993. I am married to Yvonne and we have three sons, two of which are married and reside in Medicine Hat. We recently became grandparents to twins--one of each. My family and I have been long time residents of Medicine Hat and area--I am fourth generation and my sons are fifth so needless to say I have a passion for this area and its residents. I started school at Elm Street School in Medicine Hat (the same school my mother attended) and upon graduation from Maple Creek Composite High School, I attended the Medicine Hat College, the University of Calgary, attaining a B.A. in Economics and a Teaching Certificate, and the University of Lethbridge studying in the Faculty of Business Management. My teaching career included: St. Michael’s School, Bow Island, Alexandra Junior High School, Medicine Hat High School, and Herald School. In 1990, I began a career change to funeral service. I have been active in his community serving on the Police Commission, Knights of Columbus, a member of the Alberta Funeral Service Association and a past member of the Kiwanis. I have also published three children’s books explaining funeral service to children. I have a passion for heritage and enjoy old home restorations, oil painting, and entertaining our family and friends. For over the past twenty-five years, it has been a great honor for me to serve families who have placed their trust in Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel, Crematorium and Reception Center in probably one of the most difficult times of their lives.

Persevere come at the problem with a new strategy—think outside the box. When hiring it’s often a crap shoot in spite of checking all the references. Just be diligent in doing written reviews in case you need to dismiss them.

It sometimes works and we see them but because of the deception seldom if ever buy the product. A better tact would be to send a letter of introduction and what you are selling. Ask for a meeting if they are interested they will schedule you in. It will save you time and energy in the long run.

There are mixed feelings about this, I see the merits of listing prices as it provides the customer with honest and clear information. The downside is that it also provides your competitor with the same information so all they have to do is undercut your product a few dollars and the customer,...

There are mixed feelings about this, I see the merits of listing prices as it provides the customer with honest and clear information. The downside is that it also provides your competitor with the same information so all they have to do is undercut your product a few dollars and the customer, no matter how loyal, will probably purchase from them. So, for us, the potential ramifications of doing this may prove very costly and because of this we have chosen not to do this--especially when they can go to Amazon, Wayfare, etc. and order it at extreme discount prices. An old saying used to exist when these department stores were in existence--"Eatons doesn't tell Sears their plans." I believe to some degree the catalogues were their demise as customers could compare prices quite easily---now we have the internet. We are no longer competing with local providers but national and international providers and as we all know volume sales discounts prices.
