For the past 20 years Studio Atelier is teaching traditional, forgotten techniques of the Old Masters in painting and drawing and its great practical benefits to the student can’t be overemphasized.
E Roffe began studying the Old Masters’ Techniques 35 years ago, ignoring the common trend of “modernism” and the art establishments who have had a disdain for craftsmanship in fine arts. Unable to find the desired art training in her area of living (there were and still are only very few around the world), she educated herself by taking drawing classes and painting workshops from different artists, reading the rare books on traditional techniques, and mainly by observing the art in museums around the world (“…it is at the museums where one learns to draw and paint.”- Degas .
After observing that frustration was common among students unable to find solid training in painting and drawing, in 1996 the artist/owner Eva Roffe opened her Studio Atelier to students. Her classes are based on the principle that studying the rigorous traditional techniques will enhance the student’s ability and confidence, allowing them to succeed as artists.
