Pilates, developed by Joe Pilates in the 1920's, incorporates many aspects of Eastern and Western exercise disciplines. Pilates’ classical method blends body position awareness, and breathing with muscle toning, strengthening and intensity of movement. This assures that the whole body is engaged and being utilized throughout the workout, producing a very flexible and visibly lean body. Particular attention is paid to toning the midsection or “core” of the body, which creates healthy support for the spine. Other great benefits include…
• Taller, leaner appearance with better posture
• Increased range of motion and flexibility
• Increased lung capacity
• Muscle definition without bulking
In 1996 I was looking for a new form of exercise. I was no longer happy with the aerobics of the 70's and 80's and looking for a more comprehensive core and strength building program that would incorporate precise body position and alignment with mindful movement. I found it with Pilates! I was the first person certified to teach in this method in 2002 in the Northern Michigan area. My studio is devoted to bringing pure Pilates to our area and getting great results for our clients!
