This has been a good summer so far, business is very good, and my clients are having a very profitable year. Unless we get hit again by another storm, all looks very promising for a solid summer and year in general. Also, on a personal note. I am Kekoa's dad. He was one of Brian's closest friends growing up and spent a lot of time at your house. How is the family? Kekoa is doing great, living in Colorado. Has a lovely family, two kids, a 5 year old, and a 2 year old, named Oliver.

There is something to be said for doing pre-opening research and being in the right place at the right time. I did have a mentor so to speak, locally when I moved to Florida to start my business which helped. I think what I lacked was billing experience, and should have probably looked for specific help with that. As I look back, I didnt charge enough, but perhaps that is one reason we were so successful right away. I even had clients tell me years ago, that I didnt charge enough. That made me think I should have researched that a bit more.

If a business today does not have exposure on the internet, it is quite likely they will not survive. Only 25% of new businesses survive anyway, so by not having an online platform, you are decreasing your odds of survival. The very first thing the vast majority of consumers does today is a google search for products and companies. It is even whether they search via desktop or mobile - so you must be present with good content on both...or dont waste your money starting a new business.

You will however need a plan. But simply, physically network, use social media, and the power of the press. Contact your local paper for free press (press releases, and features). Keep submitting releases when you have something to tell. Post on Facebook often, Instagram, etc.- and blog on website. Also, hold events to raise money, and that will bring your organization recognition. I have a marketing firm, and I am also involved in a charity organization of our own. We help kids who have been emotionally traumatized from divorce, death in the family, disasters, etc. The key is be visible, get out there! When you have fundraising events post notices in stores, use a service for mass emails, and post all over social media. Good luck - We do the same for our non-profit, IMAGINE Children's Health Center in Naples, Florida. Best, Jeff Schlesinger, AIM - Advertising & Integrated Marketing

Your small investment will pay for itself ten fold. When I look for real estate to purchase, I hire a professional. When I need a dentist, I go to a professional. What is that old expression? If someone represents themselves in court, they have a fool for a client. Something along those lines. Be sure your professional is just that. Review their platform, experience, and very important, their testimonials. Jeff Schlesinger AIM- Advertising & Integrated Marketing.

We have taken clients who are not even rated on the first 12 pages of a related search, and now have them in number one "organic" position on the first page by using a mix of online platforms, from web, mobile, social media, blog, press releases, directories, etc. There is no silver bullet, but it takes a little time to get there and a lot of time online promoting, watching algorithm changes, and constant managing of website, social media, and digital marketing.

As I tell my clients - and I follow the same advice. If you relate a positive message and story about your company, be honest with your customers, admit mistakes if and when they occur, always be available for them if they need answers, and always (if applicable meet deadlines). Do not disappoint. (more) As I tell my clients - and I follow the same advice. Social media is virtually free, but time-consuming and something you can do yourself, including Facebook, Instagram, etc. Email blasts are very good, and press releases in your local paper are excellent to bring in traffic. All relatively free to do yourself, and they do work. Be sure you are listed on online directories, such as Google My Business, Yelp, Manta, etc. - all free.
