How We Got Started

212 Creative, LLC (formerly JD Website Development) brings over 40 years of website building, and marketing experience to the table. The company was born out of Talk-n-Save Communications, a telecommunications service brokerage. After building websites to market the various telecom services, Talk-n-Save Communications rose to number one in sales for the phone company Talk America in 2002. As the climate in the telecommunications industry changed, we began to focus on the part of our business that we enjoyed most, building websites, SEO, and marketing. Our experience in these areas allowed us to deliver success to our clients in the form of well constructed, optimized websites that perform. Simply put…we build websites that work!

(more) There are three basic ways the we acquire new clients for website development and SEO services; word of mouth, networking, and lead generation.  Word of of mouth is the simple process of one happy client passing your information on to another. This is a very reliable source of new business that can provide several new clients per month. These leads are coming directly to you and looking for the service you offer so they are often very easy to convert. Networking is the process of getting your business in front of other business owners through involvement in things such as chambers of commerce, social media groups (like Alignable), and any other groups that connect those who may be in need of your services. The principle of networking is really quite simple. By putting your name out there consistently, your business is more likely to come to mind when someone needs the services you offer. Lead generation is perhaps the most important key to creating a steady stream of new clients. It is the process of gathering leads that you can then connect with in an effort to sell your services. The methods vary widely and the greatest challenge is generating high quality leads that will convert on a consistent basis. Methods include, email marketing, SEO, direct mail, and even cold calling. These leads often convert at a lower rate than the other two I've mentioned. Therefore, it is important to establish a method that will provide a steady flow of leads and to develop a pan to harvest these leads. Lead generation is critical to the growth of your business and should be viewed as an essential part of your operating budget. While these three methods of customer acquisition are certainly not all inclusive, they are the three that I rely on most. I recommend taking some time to test these out and you'll soon strike a balance that keeps your business moving in a positive direction.

In 2019 we will be marketing to the local community more than ever.  We've been developing for companies globally and would like to start servicing more local businesses. We're also expanding to do more graphic design and SEO along with website development.  (more) In 2019 we will be marketing to the local community more than ever.  We've been developing for companies globally and would like to start servicing more local businesses. I typically tell them that we are no longer a good fit for their specific needs and include 2 or 3 referral companies that I think will better suit them.   (more) I typically tell them that we are no longer a good fit for their specific needs and include 2 or 3 referral companies that I think will better suit them.

The only sales calls we do are to those requesting free project quotes from our website.  Our form includes a "best time to call" field so we call when they ask us to call.  (more) The only sales calls we do are to those requesting free project quotes from our website.  Our form includes a "best time to call" field so we call when they ask us to call.

I was just thinking that a physical space outside my home could give me better control over productivity and overall quality of my product.

Updating plugins and WP core files is very important for security. I like to use a service like ManageWP for this. The free service is great and for a small fee you can add some additional features like backup. (more) Updating plugins and WP core files is very important for security. I don't like the practice in general. However, I don't see it as unethical at all. Freelancers who throw their time at crowd sourced projects know the risks going in. In many cases these are people just getting started and can often get valuable feedback about their work. (more) I don't like the practice in general. However, I don't see it as unethical at all. I like version A because it is very clear. I get an immediate understanding of what's the product is. Nice modern design with the angled corner blurb at the bottom too (more) I like version A because it is very clear. I get an immediate understanding of what's the product is.
