As a family nurse practitioner working in the south Bronx, many a times, I came in contact with patient who were treated with the 15mins rule. Businesses aim is to get you out of the door within 15mins. Many patients have no understanding of what their disease process is. Medication are pushed on them and out, nexttttt!
I decided to make a difference in my community by treating my patients with respect and dignity. Allocate time for them to ask questions and educate them on the reason they contracted the disease in the first place and what can be done to correct it.
