All of our Staff are trained and educated to the highest standards, so we can reinforce good behavior, and safely manage dogs with moderate behavioral issues. We'll be there from the day you bring home your puppy, providing training and puppy visits, until they are ready to graduate to social walks. We'll help you reward good manners, and discourage unwanted behaviors. We also provide excellent care for cats, small mammals, reptiles, and other exotics.

How We Got Started

Jenn Filip attended The City College of New York, originally intending to pursue a career in Conservation Biology. There, she focused on courses in animal behavior and psychology. After graduating with a Bachelor's of Science and struggling to find work in her field, Jenn settled for a retail position. There she honed her customer service skills, and produced creative solutions, but something was missing from her life and it was animals.

Jenn began taking dog walking and pet sitting clients part-time in 2011. Realizing the Pet Care industry was an opportunity to put her animal behavior skills to work, she quit her retail position in 2013, and began working as a Pet Care Professional full-time. Since then, Flipz Pet Care has strived to provide the most complete, personalized care for every companion animal.

Flipz Pet Care now has a growing team of educated and well-trained caregivers, and provides Dog Walking, Cat Sitting and Dog Training.

I notified my clients that I created a profile and they collectively wrote about 17 reviews. All 5-star.  Despite carefully selecting my service area, all my leads were from out of state. After wasting hundreds of dollars that I didn't have, I terminated my ad campaign. Suddenly ALL of my 5-star reviews disappeared. Yelp left me with one measly review. That's extortion. I gave up. I was called over and over again  by their sales team, and each time I told them I refuse to do business with a company who uses extortion. They actually notified me that Yelp does not use extortion and that I could find more details at yelp.com/extortion    ...... I'm no marketing expert, but if you need to have a section of your website dedicated to combatting regular extortion allegations, there's something wrong with your business model...

We have seen a huge increase in Puppy Training clients, however we have one trainer in the company (myself) and it's not yet necessary to have a second trainer. Therefore,  the increase has had zero affect on hiring. Even though more people have pets, they got them because they are home and don't need walking services.

That money was crucial for them to take care of their families.  One of my biggest responsibilities as a boss is to make sure my staff get enough work to survive and succeed, and when dog walking became unviable due to the pandemic,  my greatest fear was losing my staff to poverty. When they were able to recieve unemployment at a living wage,  a HUGE weight was lifted off my shoulders. As work slowly trickles in, they can use some of that $600 they got before they came back to supplement the lower wages they will be earning until we get a full schedule back.  Despite making less, I have had NO problem getting my staff back to work because I listened to their needs and included them in all of my decisions. We are a tight-knit crew, and we're figuring it out together. To all the employers who are having trouble getting their staff back, I say TREAT YOUR STAFF BETTER! If you can't lure them back to work, maybe you should take a look at your business model.

(more) My biggest safety concerns for my staff are: 1) Exposure to the general public on public transportation, and possibility of them getting Covid-19. I will be supplying the team with KN95 masks, nitrile gloves, and hand sanitizer. 2) Providing high quality dog walking requires walking briskly,  while controlling dogs that pull in different directions. It is labor intensive and normally stressful on our bodies. After wearing a mask to walk around  for the last few weeks, I've realized it is much harder to breathe. Even a normal paced 30min  walk with my dog can leave me lightheaded. I fear that in the heat of summer, providing adequate exercise for our pack with a mask on will prove dangerous, and put my staff at risk for fainting or overheating. 3) It has become more dangerous for service workers to do their job. People are frustrated and lashing out violently. I have already had to deal with my staff being targeted for hate speech and sexual assault while on the job. With the increasing hostility toward people wearing masks, decrease in overall mental health in the city, and an unpredictable work environment, I am worried my staff will be physically assaulted while traveling between appointments. Security guards are being beaten and shot across the country for asking consumers to wear a mask inside buildings. There has been a spike of shootings and murders in New York City, including Manhattan. I have already had a discussion with my staff about safety. I told them if they feel unsafe around anyone on the street or in the subway network, walk away if you can. If they get on the train you want, wait for the next one. If they get on the train you're on, switch cars or get off and wait for the next one. Clients will not be happy because it will slow down the workday, and make staff late for appointments. I am going to have to adjust our appointment policies from 2 hour pickup windows to 3-4 hour pickup windows to accommodate. We may lose clients because of this, but I have to prioritize the safety of my team.  Article on increasing crime rates:https://nypost.com/2020/05/16/...
