Judith Rosenberger, PhD, LCSW
About Us
35+ years of experience working with individuals and couples struggling with anxiety and depression, addictions, family, intimate relationship and work issues. I teach clinical practice as well to graduate students at Smith College and CUNY. My methods include cbt, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and work in collaboration with child therapists, medical specialists, wellness practitioners.
How We Got Started
My practice journey started with my PhD, followed by psychoanalytic training, and continuing to this day with study groups, peer supervision, and other ways of remaining current in my field. I've published, given trainings and presentations, held leadership positions, and all in all have happily remained deeply involved in my profession.

It seems like the future of funding is unpredictable so participating makes sense

Hello everyone and wishing you well through this mess. My business is private practice and some patients are afraid to come into the city or to venture out at all - just a few so far but I expect more. It is an authentic concern and while I offer online, I am not surprised if it is declined and frankly don't love it myself. I'm used to treating an online patient for several years, in another country, so know it can indeed result in real progress psychotherapeutically, but it has also taken us some time in those years to get into the most productive way of working. To switch from in person to online is harder, I think.

Colleagues and special topic peer groups are my main go-to sources of advice. With many years of practice experience behind me, I particularly value the insights of others who have had a wealth of experience themselves. Almost always, peers are generous, non-judgmental, non-didactic, and share real life lessons that can't be learned from classes and books. I hope I too can give back examples and approaches that have been learned, sometimes the hard way, in the day to day work with people who always have unique and complicated dynamics that require a good listener to grasp what is needed.
This is not something I have ever done. The closest I've come is approaching/being on board/teaching for institute and universities and hoping to improve the way online services are provided, usually badly.

When I need office assistance I hire on a per diem basis - internet expertise, billing, insurance issues. I don't have and don't want a full time employee.

Telehealth seems to be the up and coming delivery of care system throughout healthcare. I've been practicing to people in China and also teaching there online for almost 10 years. Because it's off shore I and under the umbrella of a psychoanalytic training program, it is not an issue re. credentials across boundaries. Inside the USA I'm not sure. There are a number of trainings on line. I expect this is a prelude to credential requirements. And of course we all have to determine if this is a safe, effective modality for the individual. In some cases it has seemed very effective, in others not so certain. One concern I have is the minimization of the commitment required to be both patient and provider for many longer term patients (or those who should be long term). In particular when relational crises and/or addictions are involved it can be an important addition but perhaps not the singular methodology
