Owning artwork be it original or some form of a copy is what adds value to being alive.  Image if there were no visual artists, musicians, writers, dancers, etc. to expand our repetitive thinking we all fall into.  Yes, I do buy art ... but I also trade with other artists my photography... The one other item I'd love to share is a project I developed where you can purchase art prints of various photographers, painters, sculptors and support non-profits organizations at the same time with one purchase.  If interested check out   http://www.artishelping.com    is also partially tax deductible

I've received some very robust projects simply by meeting people at events or being at the gym.  Having strong communication skills is a plus in making work happen.  A few years ago I saw window displays for Whole Foods Market in NYC ... thought they were awful.  I spoke to the manager and showed him why work.  Nothing happened.  3 months later I received a phone call to meet the marketing team and landed a photography project which then turned into two more assignments.. 2 in NY and 1 in London... all because I approached the right person and make a clear presentation of the value I  offer without being pushy.  My 3¢.   :-)

Print like all marketing outreach is over saturated... so I believe that using print, social media and other methods of the "attention economy" is a matter of what you are offering and how often you put the message out.  I enjoy receiving really useful and well designed media that has a purpose... The site allows buyers to select an image that want and the non-profit they want to support e.g. Greenpeace, City Meals on Wheels, etc. Knowing that the site Art Is Helping is actually making tangible help to those in need is very comforting. It also takes the concept of art off the wall and into the lives of people.
