I have experience with untenable loss and putting your life aside for a memorial charity. The results were not healthy or contributory to accepting the loss. Immersing yourself in a mission, however laudable, blocks and in this case extends the grieving process by keeping the wound open. It also detracts from other family members whose grief needs your help. Love each other and get to acceptance.
People do not understand that your fee does not come from their pockets. Tell them.
