How We Got Started

My experience dates back to 1998 when my company designed and installed voice networks internationally for wholesale traffic for tier 1 carriers such as AT&T, Verizon, Qwest and Sprint.
After successfully building one of the most active platforms for arbitrage, calling cards and enterprise clients we began to leverage our infrastructures to service commercial customers for business class IP/PBX and consolidate voice, data and video onto a single bundles plan. We were one of the original "triple play" providers.
Shortly after we began offering colocation space for high speed internet access, rack space and dedicated power to business who required a dependable and affordable hosting environment for their networking equipment.

Looks like ShakeShack and the airlines needed the money more than the SMB's according to the SBA and government. We basically disclosed our financials to the banks so they can use it at a later time to spam us or sell our info to other financial institutions. Complete bait and switch.  (more) Looks like ShakeShack and the airlines needed the money more than the SMB's according to the SBA and government. With the many redundant solutions in the event your internet and power are out at your business, VoIP will still reach you on outside lines, mobile phones, email and SMS. Landlines should only be if you can't or don't want to use an ATA on analog devices or MUST be able to communicate via stationary handsets during an internet outage. If you have a managed router with a redundant ISP then you should not worry about land lines at all.  We have consulted businesses in almost every industry to ensure they never need to suffer from the pains that traditional phone companies have been causing helpless businesses for decades.

Pilot Fiber in NY is hands down the best. Network of lit buildings is growing at warp speed. Services expanding and price can't be beat.  We recommend them to any client who is tired of slow, unreliable and overpriced ISP's who can't manage to keep all internet dependent services up and running... This is 2019 not 1999 when the internet was unreliable and almost impossible for commercial users to function. If any business is still using a traditional analog phone system over copper lines then you have hundreds of reasons to get them to switch to VoIP. If the user is already with a VoIP provider and you feel that you can help them with features, cost and quality then it should be a simple comparison quote. Get a copy of the phone bill and list of features which they currently have and put that up against your offerings.  Good luck and happy hunting!

They baited the client into a teaser plan then locked them up for years of frustration causing their business to suffer when trying to resolve basic issues. These larger providers only care about sales and how their financial look to shareholders and analyst. Once the clients were able to escape they contacted us and our retention rate is greater than 5 years. This is all because we treat our clients with the respect and courtesy as if its our own business that depends on the support.  Most pain points with VoIP providers stem from the clients local network or ISP which in many cases is something out of our control. We still help our clients even if the problem is due to outside issues but many other providers will just tell you "it's not our problem".

(more) I've read all of the replies to your question and feel most are relevant but from our standpoint as experienced industry providers/consultants we know that no amount of marketing and probing the potential client will get them to make a change. We are up against publicly trading companies who have much larger marketing budgets than us, more exposure and brand recognition which took years and millions of dollars to achieve.  We as providers to SMB and some enterprise size clients obtain our new business through word of mouth (referrals) and mostly when the business has reached its limit to the pains and frustrations that their current provider is causing them. Perhaps we can offer a lower cost option or more features but that is all irrelevant unless they see a need to make a change. There are many review sites specifically for providers in our industry that have capitalized the top rankings of all our industry keywords. Naturally businesses who search for "Cybersecurity, Internet and Telecom Services" will visit those review sites before finding the provider. Google has made it a costly and time consuming task to get visitors to providers like us. You can pay a marketing consultant or hire SEO but at the end of the day it's a losing battle if you are up against the big boys.  Let your current customers be the spokespeople for your business and compensate them for their effort. I'd rather spend my advertising budget on my clients than give it to an SEO or Google. Just the facts!
