Garrett Huffman has been in the real estate industry since 2011. He worked on one of top performing teams in the state of Michigan for eight years. The first five years of that experience was in the field, learning the in’s and out’s of a transaction and received guidance from an incredible mentor. The last three years spent on the team was in a leadership position, where he trained, coached, and developed agents into who they are today. He also spent that time traveling across the country masterminding with other top agents in the industry, receiving coaching from some of the most respected names in real estate regarding leadership, systems, and process. He has helped agents navigate 1000’s of transactions. He has also consulted and coached agents from across the country on how to improve their results by improving their process and increasing their real estate knowledge. You won’t see his name on any of his results because he isn’t about receiving credit for his accomplishments.
So, why start The Huffman Group?
The Huffman Group was founded with the intention of raising the industry standards of service to the client and agent education. That is achieved through leveraging systems, technology, communication, and coaching. We understand that people make decisions to buy and sell homes around life altering changes; getting married, having children, getting a promotion at work, changing jobs, empty nesters, divorce, loss of a loved one, unexpected medical complications, loss of a job. That means the real estate process can get very emotional and we come from a place of empathy and understanding.
Why raise the standards of service for the industry?
The real estate industry has a very low barrier of entry. When there is a very low barrier, the core values of each individual person and their commitment to their clients’ concerns very greatly from agent to agent and team to team. When that happens, the public perception of the industry becomes very diluted and skewed. It is completely understandable that some may have a rather adverse reaction when real estate is brought up. Those people only know the industry from the experience they received, and it likely was not a good experience because whom they may have been working with at the time either didn’t have much training, knowledge regarding the real estate process, or didn’t know how to leverage resources to deliver high quality service.
Why not be an independent agent?
Being an independent agent can only get you so far. At some point, your quality of service diminishes because your over-leveraged. An independent agent is responsible for every aspect of their business that includes; marketing strategy, social media presence, listing appointments, buyer consultations, showing homes, negotiating contracts, navigating the transaction from contract to close, arranging home inspections, training, getting a home on the market, being a photographer, editing photos, prospecting, etc. An independent agent can only do so much in a day, that is why the national average of homes sold by an agent is anywhere from 3-8 homes per year.
So what is a real estate team?
A real estate team is designed to breakdown and simplify the real estate process using the Pareto Principle. You have heard of this before, it is called the 80/20 rule. It mean that 80% of your results comes from 20% of your activities. Using the 80/20 rule, we begin by finding people who excel at different aspects of the real estate process and empowering them to be the absolute best at that specific function. As a team grows, responsibilities are continuously split to allow people to thrive and excel at a higher level.
Are all real estate team the same?
Real estate teams is a very general term that can be tough to describe. Every real estate team has their own set of values, culture, purpose, and processes. All of which make them very different from each other. Through his experience and observations, Garrett has seen the inside of how many of these teams operate, the good and the bad. From that knowledge base, coupled with his own personal experience, he made the decision to build his own team and bring together all of the good he has seen to deliver the best client experience and raise the expectations of the industry.
