About Us

Kingsland Security specializes as your trusted cyber security advisor. Catering to both individuals and small business, we offer custom solutions to secure your digital footprint.

Your data is scattered about; on your smartphone, PC, laptop, tablet, cloud storage, social media, and possibly even the car you drive. These elements are just part of your digital landscape, each offering amazing creative, productive, and recreational capacity, but also unique risks to your identity and the security and privacy of your data.

In addition to having over 15 years of experience providing custom cyber security solutions to both individuals and businesses, we bring with us patience, enthusiasm, and a listening ear. We're going to walk you through the process and ensure that you understand how our plan will help to secure your data. Most importantly, we're going to tailor the solution to you, and not just drop an 'out-of-the-box', 'one-size-fits-all' quick fix approach.

We believe in root cause analysis, and fixing the underlying problems, whether technical or procedural.

Unfortunately, Wix does not yet support HTTPS. If they don't implement this ability within the next six months, I'll be moving to a different provider. I'll be shocked if they don't, given that Google, and others, are adding pressure for all sites to support encryption. (more) Unfortunately, Wix does not yet support HTTPS. (more) Nadine, for any business that is handling and storing sensitive client data, a defense in depth approach to data security is a must. The first, and most important step, is to classify the sensitivity of data which your firm is handling. All sensitive client data should go into its own dedicated 'bucket', which is layered with additional security measures. As for what those measures are, it will vary greatly depending on the organization; a one man shop may be able to get by with an encrypted archive for client data, while a larger organization may need a full fledged Document Management System (DMS) which support native encryption and data-loss prevention (DLP). Cliff Notes: 1) Run endpoint protection on all PCs and servers 2) Install security patches for PCs, servers, and network devices 3) Use a SMB UTM to secure your network, not a consumer grade router/wireless access point 4) Use strong passwords (14+ characters) for login accounts, archive and document passwords, wireless keys, etc. 5) Encrypt client data 6) Have someone monitor your network for suspicious activity, or at least perform quarterly (if not monthly) security audits. To start with the basics, always run a full fledged endpoint protection suite on all PCs in your environment. These products marry antivirus with web content filtering, host intrusion prevention (HIPS), spam filtering, and can also include endpoint DLP and endpoint encryption. Products I recommend in this space include Trend Micro Worry Free Business, and Sophos Endpoint Security. (Note: if you're running any version of Windows prior to 10, I strongly suggest using Microsoft's excellent (and free!) EMET security tool, which provides an additional layer of security for PCs on top of antivirus: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.a... ) Next, lock down client data! This can be as simple as using 7-Zip to create an encrypted, password protected archive which holds said client data. Be sure that the password is at least 14 characters long (anything less can be easily cracked). If you're on a network, and storing data on a server, make sure that the file shares are properly locked down using file share permissions. Additionally, use an operating system which natively supports encryption, such as Windows 10 Pro, which allows you to encrypt the entire hard disk. Last, do not use a consumer grade router/wireless access point (such as the Netgear, D-Link, and Linksys devices commonly found at Walmart/Target/Staples). They are often riddled with security vulnerabilities, and offer only basic security features (web blocking policies, and general firewall features). Use a true SMB Unified Threat Management appliance, such as those offered by Sophos, Sonicwall, Watchguard, Cisco, and the Netgear ProSecure line. These offer enterprise security features for a fraction of the cost (but will still run you somewhere between 400-800 dollars). I also strongly suggest that you have someone monitor your network security for you, to keep an eye out for suspicious and/or malicious network activity that your antivirus is unlikely to detect. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

I use PCs. When it comes to hardware, you get what you pay for. High end PCs are up there with Apple in terms of reliability. On the mobile side, I do prefer the iPhone. RE agents sometimes use her to stage a home that they are trying to sell, and there are times when a customer she is working with is prepping their home for sale but may not yet be working with a RE agent, opening referall opportunities. I imagine that similar potential exists with general contractors, and even landscapers.
