What we do offer is internal services at no cost such as adjustments, use of laser, the use of the decompression table and a limited dollar amount of product. I feel this is a better way to offer our employees health over offering health insurance. Health insurance has been pushed, and for awhile forced by the government, which is not right. There is a time and place for medical care yet not having health insurance now a days seems like a taboo. When did it become ok for insurance companies to offer high deductible plans with high premiums and have people be thankful for the insurance? If offering health insurance means that someone does not want to work for our company then they are not the right fit for our office. There are many fantastic employees out that, which we have found, that don't base a job on health insurance, they base it upon what we offer them as a whole.

(more) I found one of your sentences interesting...."I don't want to scare them off by being difficult" I completely understand your reasoning behind that since it sounds like you are a smaller growing business....keep rocking. With that being said you need to remember that you offer a service and give 110% while providing that service, and need to be paid. That is the trade off. You cannot walk into a grocery store, go to check out, ring everything up and ask to pay later. That just isn't the way things work. It is so important to get your clients 'trained' that when you offer the service you expect payment by a certain date. Tell them up front. Get it set up from the start on how they want to pay by telling them the different forms of payment you take, and then ask what usually works best for them. Make it as easy as possible for everyone.(I charge patient credit cards monthly so I know we will get paid and its easy for the patient because they do nothing except make sure there is money in there account.) That way you give them the option of how they want to pay and are letting them know that you are aware that on your end you a providing an exceptional service and they know on there end that they must pay for this service. It's a great partnership. Make sure they understand the importance of this. If they do then they will be great paying clients, if they don't they they are just taking advantage and you deserve better clients that appreciate what you do for them. For you current situation explain that a late fee will start being assessed if the bill is not paid on time. Once a person sees the value in the service provided to them and everything is out in the open from the beginning on how everything works, it makes for a nice smooth process. With a few exceptions of course. If business were easy to run, everyone would be doing it. Value yourself and your product and so will your clients.

There are all kinds of different high tech ways to do anything now a days, yet finding the right fit for you, your office and your patients is key. Just because it is supposed to be the best of the best doesn't mean it is. Our office utilizes MyoViosion, K-laser,  ProAdjuster and lumbar decompression in conjunction with orthopedic examinations and manual adjustments. We don't add something to the office because it is the new high tech way to be, it is because we did our research and decided that a specific tool would be a great benefit for our patients for there overall care.

(more) It depends on the level of your question...Setting everything up from the beginning with your patient is key. Explain the process of the claim, explain they will need to settle with the insurance unless they retain an attorney and let them know you will send a monthly bill. The conversation includes treatment and everything that their care will consist of and how your office works. Filing a lien is good for protection yet we only use liens if we are worried about the patient treating and skipping out on the bill. An attorney is the best option for third party claims. Keep in contact with the patient. The more they are on the same page with you the better they value their care which means they won't bail on the bill. If the patient has PIP then bill PIP and fight any reductions they try and finagle. You can bill health insurance yet your bills will get reduced and are held up in arbitration. No fun. Calling the insurance company is always a good idea too. Letting them know there is a bill that needs to get paid from the accident. Sometimes they will help and sometimes they won't. Yet it never hurts to call an adjuster. If you can't get a hold of the patient then collections is the last resort.
