Get counseling, take a class on becoming more assertive, do something to help yourself become a little more of an extrovert, otherwise you won’t survive. Blunt but honest advice. However, I hope not offensive!
I’ll make this brief and simple. Your situation will never improve. Start looking for another job (it’s difficult to quit and be unemployed.) and when you interview, don’t badmouth your current employer. Once you are offered a position, you know what to do.

You need to ask yourself the question, “How important is this to me?”
Once you have the answer, you have two choices. The first is to put in less effort or give up. The second, in my opinion and for me, is set your mind on never giving up. It’s guttural. Nothing is going to get in my way or stop me. I will go around, over, under, or through whatever is challenging me. Everyone gets challenged at some point in their life; the mentally weak usually fail, but those who grit their teeth and who are mentally strong most often succeed.
I have a two part answer to your question. If you’re gay, then own it. Why are you embarrassed or feel ashamed of who you are? If we turned back the clock 40 years, I could understand your feelings of the “secret” being out of the bag, but you’re 40 years old and in your lifetime, the LGBTQ...

I have a two part answer to your question. If you’re gay, then own it. Why are you embarrassed or feel ashamed of who you are? If we turned back the clock 40 years, I could understand your feelings of the “secret” being out of the bag, but you’re 40 years old and in your lifetime, the LGBTQ community has been accepted by the mainstream community. This acceptance brings up part two of my answer. During the last 40 years, most companies have written policies regarding discrimination and harassment in the workplace and I believe that there are also laws protecting you. If your supervisor does not do something about the harassment that is being projected at you, then you have the option of suing him and the corporation/business. I hope this helps.

I do not video chat with clients on a regular basis. Personally, I prefer to either text, email, or call clients depending upon the level of familiarity that I have with them. I keep nonverbal communication brief in discovering their interest with carrying the communication to the next level. If there is no interest, I don’t push it. If there is an interest, then proceeding further is comfortable for both parties and generally leads to additional business or positive referrals.
