Though skin care shut down with the Safer-at-Home order on April 3rd, I voluntarily shut down our skin care services on March 20th, as well. We reopened on May 11th. Upon reopening, an email was sent out to all clients describing our expanded disinfection protocols (which, honestly, wasn't that much different than the normal protocols) per guidelines from the CDC, FL Dept of Health, and our insurance companies. We also let them know we are limiting the amount of clients we see per day. Thankfully, we have loyal clientele that absolutely trust us to do what is right at all times. Besides keeping our clients as safe as possible, my main concern is keeping us safe. We shut down for seven weeks and if one of us falls ill, we will have to shut down for minimum additional two weeks. Social distancing is not an option in our line of work. But we love our jobs and our clients view us as essential for both their body and mental well-being. We hope our abundance of caution will carry us through happy and healthy.

Yes, even in the winter. Yes, even if you live up north. Yes, every day. There are no precautions to take when getting a tan, though there are alternatives, such as sunless tanning creams.

Even with all the technology and social media that is available to us today, I still feel as if word of mouth is the biggest proponent of growth. However, getting people in with those mouths is helpful, right? A whole did-the-chicken-or-the-egg-come-first conundrum. This is where a website is your most faithful friend. Ensuring you have all the information people want to know is vital. I have found online booking to be very popular, as well. Being able to be found is also vital, so ensure you are on Google/Google Maps/Google Business. Make use of your other free listings, such as Bing, Yahoo and Yelp. Choose your social media platform and perfect posting on one first and then start integrating others. I personally only have a Facebook page, no Instagram page as of yet. I have time put aside every week to schedule my posts because trying to post something in between clients every day just didn't work for me. If you want to try something a little out of the box, look up 60 Clients in 60 Days by Eric Brown. It is geared towards massage therapists, but I feel it can be tweaked for estheticians, as well. Although you are still giving time away for free, the "give to get" concept makes sense. And you can give and still maintain control of your time and money without giving it away to Groupon. You will probably get a lot of good advice on this thread. No matter which you choose to follow, I wish you the best of luck!

(more) Hi Shawn, Although you've tried many products in your life, it is important to find the right products for your skin and your goals. I believe skin care products are a great way to take care of the skin from the outside. If you were to do one thing starting today, I would recommend using a sunscreen every day. This will not reverse the damage, but it will help prevent your skin from becoming damaged even more. I would also recommend setting up an appointment with an esthetician/skin care specialist in your area. Most will do consultations and some of them even do them free of charge. It is important to have them look at your skin and discuss your goals before potentially wasting your money on products that may not be right for you. Skin is also affected by your environment, diet, medications, etc. Also, please remember that good skin care products are like going to the gym for your face - you must be consistent and not expect results overnight. Good luck in your skin care journey!

It's Michelle Sablan, massage therapist and esthetician. I have you scheduled for a facial for 10:00am today, Wednesday, July 26th. It's about 10:15 right now and you're not here. I hope that you are okay. If you can call me when you receive this message to let me know you received it, we can get you rescheduled. Thank you and look forward to hearing from you soon." 2. I use Massage Book and it allows me to mark the appointment as a no-show as well as send the client an email. 3. Wait 24 hours. If the client does not call back, I block them from being able to schedule online. I also put a note on their account that will remind me that they were a no-show in case they actually try to call me, which has never happened in the 9 years I've been in practice. I hope this helps!
