So, when I am in traffic, or at a stop sign or stop light, I have seen people writing down my business phone number. The other way is word of mouth. If I have cleaned a client's carpets, their neighbors usually come over and take a look. The proof is in the pudding, I always say.
Our biggest success is when other carpet cleaners have tried to clean a carpet and they weren't able to get the stains out. The homeowners or property managers then call us as a last ditch effort, and we not only get the stains out, but we make the carpets look as good as new again. This saves...

This saves them from having to replace the carpets and get another year or two of wear out of them. This equates to lots of money saved in the long run.

Word of Mouth advertising is what works for us. We have tried Yelp and we have a website, but what works best for us is the "before and after" pictures of our work. The proof is in the pudding as the old saying goes. We have saved many a carpet that owners would have replaced if we didn't get the stains out for them. We are not the cheapest carpet cleaners, but we feel we are the best ... just like our name says, "Quality First." After all, if a renter pays another company $99 and they get a cleaning that is mediocre, most of the time that won't pass the Property Manager's test and the renter may not get all of their deposit back. The Property Manager will then pay us to do it over again; wasting time and money for all parties involved. We believe in doing it right the first time..."Quality First to make your Carpets Last."
As far as new soap and lotion products for Fall and Winter, I have asked the girls in my family and they all like Peppermint, French Vanilla, Christmas Cookies, Pumpkin Spice, Cranberry, Bay Rum, Brown Sugar and Gingerbread.

I don't usually use hiring ads. I hire people who are personally recommended to me or people that I know and can trust. I like to hire veterans of the armed forces because they are disciplined, trustworthy and have a good work ethic.

I think people are too busy to read a newsletter in the mail. Instead, I think if you had a website and put the address on your postcards, then in the customer's free time they could look at your website and pick up some carpet cleaning tips in between professional cleanings.

I have found that three ways work in hiring good candidates. The first way would be Trade Schools, then try Temporary Employment Agencies and the last would be Word of Mouth through friends. I would put up flyers in all the trade schools in your city, Lowell, MA. After a quick look online, I found about 18 schools in your area. If the kids are going to a trade school, they seem drawn to working with their hands. I have found that students who want to get their hands dirty do better in this field than those who are going on to get degrees in professional white collar jobs. You could also make inquiries with temporary employment agencies. If you hire through them, they screen the applicants so they will send you their best. The other way of course would be asking friends who could recommend someone. I hope this helps you.
