Hi Mike, I've been a member of several different Chambers in the local area over the years. Currently I have an affiliation with a South Florida chamber that secured some promotional opportunities for my business, primarily at the Broward Mall. The very local Plantation Chamber has never bought me any students, and everyone who goes to the weekly breakfast seems to be a lawyer or real estate agent. I tried all manner of promotions with them on various occasions, but nothing I did with them bought me business. Right now I would only join a chamber if there was going to be an immediate benefit, like a booth in the Mall for two days, three times between now and Christmas. The downside of a Chamber membership is the time and money you spend joining and going to meetings; the upside is the people you meet and the business you receive as a consequence. The equation has to at least balance, and at best lean in your favor to make it worthwhile. I hope that this is useful to you.
