That depends on if you are new or experienced in real estate. If you are new and have limited funds to spend on advertising , you need to get creative about making the best use of no cost sites such as Craigslist. See if you can volunteer to work open houses for other agents in your office. Write down every one you are in contact with to work your sphere of influence, from friends and family to where you get your hair cut to your pet groomer or whoever you do business with. Join community projects, go to networking events. If you are a member of the Board of Realtors go to their weekly marketing sessions and meet other Realtors and get to know your product and community well. Volunteer for community or church projects if you are a member. Get yourself a mentor. One of the most memorable things I learned from an awesome lady who mentored me way back when was to wear your name badge everywhere. Her line she always told us was “don’t be a secret agent”. Wear your company name badge as a conversation starter, whether you are in the grocery store or out to dinner. Let people know what you do. If you are an experienced agent, pick an area or two and farm it consistently. Make yourself a household name in the farm area of your choice. Don’t do it hit or miss or every now and then. Make sure they hear from you on a monthly basis. Check in with former customers on a regular basis. Don’t be afraid to ask previous satisfied customers for referrals. Best of luck to you. Be consistent and don’t give up. Check yard sale ads. Often times they are having moving sales. Talk to people and find out what the reason for the yard sale is. I personally don’t follow up on obituaries and court divorce records, but some agents do and get leads from those. Keep trying and find what works best for you and what you are most comfortable with. Some agents are good at cold calls, some like myself are more comfortable with doing mailings to FSBO’s and expireds. The most important thing is that you are genuine and do what you feel works best for your personality and sales style.

All very good suggestions here. After being introverted and shy for many years, I have finally found my voice. Networking in the right groups where you are comfortable does help. After getting so nervous at a Toastmaster's meeting I ran out the door, I discovered Tony Robbins. He has many programs you can attend, but they are pricey. I watch his video's on YouTube frequently and have gained so much more self-confidence. I still stay away from cold calling but there are a number of ways you can prospect for clients that may be more comfortable for you to begin with. It does take time and practice. I do have to push myself sometimes to get out and put myself in new and unfamiliar settings, but each time I do I gain a little more confidence. Don't get discouraged. Keep learning and practicing all you can, find a good mentor and know that you probably notice your introversion more than the people you are contacting do. Know and believe in your product, have a sincere desire to help people benefit from your product or service and that will come across to your prospective customers or clients.
