About Us

At Jan Cavanaugh Paintings Conservation Services we specialize in the preservation and restoration of easel and panel paintings in oils and acrylic. Jan Cavanaugh, PhD, MAC is a Conservator of Paintings, Art Historian, and former Curator of the Douglas F. Cooley Memorial Art Gallery at Reed College. She has 20 years of experience in paintings conservation. After completing a masters in art conservation from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada in 2000, she established her own private practice in Eugene in 2002, and then relocated to Portland in 2007. She adheres strictly to the Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic & Artistic works (AIC). As a professionally trained conservator she uses scientifically-tested materials and methods aimed at safeguarding our cultural heritage.
