About Us
I am a psychotherapist with 34 years of experience in counseling people in the RTP area. I specialize in working with men. They usually present with relationship, communication, anger, boundary, job, issues. I see police, military, aviation, and EMS personnel. I also work with couples.
How We Got Started
I have been employed by corporations, universities, and health care systems. 5 years ago, I decided to become the captain of my own ship and started my private practice. It is the best decision I ever made!

My main source of advertising is Psychology Today. This paid service sends information regarding number of hits to my online profile and to my website (monthly). I am also given the number of PT providers potential clients are contacting online, too.

My most valuable asset is my warm, compassionate, grateful, and humorous personality. I am able to connect with most people in an emotional/spiritual/cognitive way.

Psychology Today...online profiles of psychotherapists throughout the country. So, I would say, look for ways to connect with an online database of folks in your profession who live in your area. Facebook is not a great marketing tool for my profession. Word of mouth brings the most clients to me. I am also networking with clinicians I have never met in our area so we can cross-refer. I attend an annual large conference for my profession in Winston-Salem so I see colleagues I have known for decades. They are more than gracious in sending possible clients to my practice...they live throughout NC so rarely am I in competition with any of them. Just an aside, I am an introvert so I have to push myself to meet folks in general. It has gotten easier for me as I meet more people and get practice in using my social muscles.
OMG...after being consumed with tasks and overtime for the last 20 years of work, I am back at Jazzercise and my mood is completely uplifted and I lost about 15 lbs. in a short period of time...not my intention at all. I love this form of exercise so I am motivated to go to classes. I am an...

HA! I am certainly not successful yet (measuring it by number of clients in my caseload and profit). I am making 1/16th of what I made in the business world and had excellent benefits. As a business owner a little over a year, I miss nothing and love being my own boss. I am networking like...

As a business owner a little over a year, I miss nothing and love being my own boss. I am networking like crazy. I am lunching with clinicians I have known for decades and new folks. I contact the people in my profession through LinkedIn. My experience is that word-of-mouth is the best marketing tool.

As a psychotherapist in private practice, I follow protocol of my peers in the field. We let clients know that if they do not cancel appts. within a 24 hr. time frame, they will be scheduled the full fee. Of course, this does not work with clients who no-show for intake appts. (first session). This practice teaches clients that they have consequences for taking up space on our calendars when others could have been schedule with ample notice. I do not have repeated no-shows due to this policy. Also, I think it shows respect for our profession, emphasizes our value, and does not enable a client to continue this disrespectful behavior with other business owners. Of course, if someone is sick or faces inclement weather conditions, they are not penalized with less than 24 hr. notice.

Trust is the cornerstone of the psychotherapist-client relationship. Not only am I legally bound to follow HIPAA compliance, I can be trusted not to judge my clients and their problems. With 28 years of experience, I can build a therapeutic alliance with my clients. We are all in this together!

I just need someone with strong hands as my shoulders and neck are where I hold most of my stress. Sometimes, I have to ask a therapist to give me a deeper massage. One worked on pressure points to relieve pain and this was most effective...so I didn't need a whole body massage. I would like...

One worked on pressure points to relieve pain and this was most effective...so I didn't need a whole body massage. I would like one who is not chatty. Listening to someone else is stressful to me as it is my profession.
