About Us

St. John Ambulance is one of the worlds oldest organizations offering community services and providing training and products that enable you to assist someone during their time of need.

How We Got Started

The origins of St. John Ambulance go way back in history where the Knights of St. John would help the Christians during their pilgrimage to the holy land. Security and medical assistance would be provided to those in need. Throughout history there has been many changes in what we do and how we do it but the main purpose remains to help those in need Pro Utilitate Hominum

When you are delivering a greeting it should be friendly and welcoming. If you are going to deliver the greeting in a negative tone then you are likely better to not say anything. You do not want to scare people off.  If your store is trying to present a specific image then you may want to come up with something a bit more catchy to say that will align with that image. as you mentioned a fishing store asking if you have been fishing lately. This will get the customer's attention and likely to start a conversation. this works well when you are targeting a niche market. in this example, it really doesn't matter what the customer says in response to your greeting you can start the conversation and steer it into a recommendation that will help show your store's expertise and build a relationship with that customer.   Just make sure your greeting is welcoming, make eye contact, share a smile and let the customer know you are happy to assist them if needed.

When you are sitting behind a table you become unapproachable. If you are looking to collect contact names that you can work as leads, then a draw is a low cost, effective way to do this. Find an item you can offer that relates to your business and would be of interest to the majority of your customers. If you are promoting a service maybe you offer your services, If you sell products select one of your top selling items. Ideally it is great if you can get an IPAD/Tablet to use for people to enter the draw, although a clear glass bowl works great for people to drop business cards into. I say Clear because people are more likely to participate if they see others have also taken part. The benefit of the IPad/Tablet is that it will reduce any issues with reading peoples hand writing and it will save you time in the next step.   Following the event have someone compile a list of everyone who dropped their card and send them an email asking them how they felt about the event, Informing them of the winners name and inviting them to discuss your business.  I hope you find this useful and that it will work as well for you as it does for me.

For me the best form of advertising is a referral. When you provide a quality product and take care of your customers people will advertise for you each time they know someone could use your service. .
