However, what I  have found in media creation is that the technology and accessibility of tools have exploded so that most of what you need CAN often be found in one place and created with a high level of quality. Also, smaller shops often have strategic relationships with other specialists who agree to work together on larger projects. Other reasons to consider a one-stop-shop is that the coordination, file sharing, and overall communications surrounding your project are immensely simplified when dealing with one firm instead of three or four. Finally, make sure you ask to view samples because if the agency you are considering has never handled the deliverable you are looking for, you will find out right away.  Best, Jeff

(more) You have included the correct elements, but I  think their placement and emphasis needs some change. Always lead with your product, especially if your product is beautiful new garage doors. 1) In general think of your landing page as the part of a newspaper that you see through the glass of a newsstand at a bus stop. That small space you see through the glass needs to capture your attention and create some emotion. You know there is a lot more inside but you need to see an image and headline on the front that interests you immediately before you put in your money (or click) to see anything more. 2) The top of your site should feature a hero (beauty) shot of one gorgeous set of garage doors and the name of your company with your logo. Better still, an auto-playing slideshow. Remember people view pages top to bottom and left to right. 3) Move your long explanation of who you are to an About page. Just start with your company name and the shortest description possible and a tagline. Something like "Service and Selection all day, every day" or whatever you want to differentiate yourself with.  4) Your call box (with the click here) is a hot mess. It is too busy. Make a separate button for "Click Here" and simplify the whole thing. Keep up the good work. Jeff Fuse Digital Creative Services

Still, there has to be a place to go for people to find out more about you and see your work so in that sense, it's a must. In the B2C world, I believe websites are becoming less relevant as people go from mobile directly to purchase options.

Most cities have a Chamber of Commerce which is an organization that supports and boosts local business. Often members meet at organized events to network and exchange cards. Ours even has an event which is like speed-dating where members sit and tell each-other what they do for five minutes then switch to another member when a bell rings. In this way, you are forced to interact with many other business owners in a short time. Your local chamber may have other tactics but you can easily find yours by simply typing: '(name of your city) chamber of commerce". Most can be joined for a small fee.

Reasonable people who read reviews understand that some people are just too difficult to satisfy and are even mean. In some way, having less than 5 stars is a more accurate and honest reflection of us all. I'm not always on, my service is not always 100%. I try but I am not perfect and it is bound to happen that I will not meet someones expectations. Trust me when I say that if you wrote a rebuttal, it would reflect more poorly on you than on your picky customer. My advice is (always) take the high road and the long view and - let it be, let it be, let it be.

Collateral, signage, web, promotional design and ads. So the trick is getting to know local business decision makers. I joined my local chamber in Rochester Minnesota and have met many business owners and have attended a number of sponsored events. This has helped to get the word out and has also gotten me a reference or two. So tip number one - join your local chamber. Tip number two - always cary business cards like Brooke says and always cary postcards (they are cheap to make) that show some of your work with you as well. These are important sales tools you shouldn't be caught without. Tip number three - never turn down an invitation to meet or network, ever. I am not a natural extrovert and would prefer to just hunker down and design the day away but I have learned to make sure I get myself out there. No matter who you meet with, they have a sphere of influence and by meeting with them you are tapping into that sphere in some way. I could go on and on but those three are good for starters.
