Although I have some 10+ years experience as an Enrolled Agent, I have been lucky to have been spoon fed with clients in the past :-). Now I am on my own and it has been a difficult so far. I really would prefer to solicit clients virtually. I have used Thumbtack to bid on clients, but that has so proved to be very competitive. Give it a try you may be more successful than I have been so far. I love the advice from Steve to contact various people for lunch. I will try requesting thru Alignable.

You have quite a bit of options. I would recommend QuickBooks online, especially since I am also a ProAdvisor. But I would also consult with a pro for advice. We often offer free consultations. :-). So definitely take advantage. (more) You have quite a bit of options. I would recommend QuickBooks online, especially since I am also a ProAdvisor. But I would also consult with a pro for advice. Current you have the systems audits which is created by the accounting systems comparing what you reported versus what other taxpayers reported. An example of this is a client of yours submitted a 1099 that they issues to you and you didn't report this income on your return. There is also the random audit (lottery and your return is picked). And lastly one where you either over estimate or under estimate income over a period of time and it is detected. Nothing to do with a CPA. However, a CPA or and IRS Enrolled Agent can guide you best through the process to avoid an audit. Or in the case you are picked randomly the process is a mere fomality.

Too many things to consider if you are doing right or wrong. The best answer is to take it to a professional. (more) Too many things to consider if you are doing right or wrong. The best answer is to take it to a professional.
