About Us

ACdR Conservation is a San Francisco based, West Coast regional multi-disciplinary fine art conservation studios and laboratories, specializing in the treatment of Paintings, Sculpture, Decorative Arts, Textiles, Furniture, Books and Paper, Ethnographic Arts and other Ephemera.

Our staff of more than 10 highly skilled and academically trained conservators, technicians and post graduate interns provide a comprehensive variety of treatment services including: cleaning, repairs, stabilization, preservation, display mounting making, custom framing and long term storage, collections management--as well as integrated pest management, mold and pest abatement, smoke, soot and ash remediation from wildfires, and emergency and disaster recovery projects.

Whatever your conservation or preservation needs may be, our staff and teams can assist you with an initial condition assessment, and make the appropriate recommendations. Cultural heritage preservation is always our priority.

All work is performed according to the Code of Ethics, Guidelines, and Standards of Practice of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC)The International Institute of Conservation (IIC), AIC Conservator in Private Practice (CIPP) ICOM-CC, Western Association of Art Conservation (WAAC),
Board of Directors Bay Area Art Conservation Guild (BAACG).

How We Got Started

ACdR Conservation - Art Conservation de Rigueur San Francisco atelier was established in 1999 in the out Richmond District neighborhood, and has been serving the greater Bay Area region, Northern California and clients throughout the United States for the past two decades.

ACdR Conservation is a woman owned and all women operated fine art conservation studios. We had closed initially on March 16 in accordance with the SF/CA Shelter in Place orders. We recently reopened with safe physical distancing and PPE practices. We were closed for business a total of 5... (more) ACdR Conservation is a woman owned and all women operated fine art conservation studios. We had closed initially on March 16 in accordance with the SF/CA Shelter in Place orders. We recently reopened with safe physical distancing and PPE practices. We were closed for business a total of 5 months. During this downtown, as the owner, Director and Principal Conservator, I applied for countless small business grants and funding opportunities. In the end, I choose not to take the Federal SBA PPP, or EIDL loans, due to the constrained and restricted loan terms. Fortunately, I applied for many women owned small business programs with small funding grant-lotteries. ACdR Conservation received capitol finds for initial reopening operational expenses from FAceBook, LISC, Big Heart Small Business, and a 0% interest /fees from SF Help. Our studios are extremely appreciative of these organizations efforts to provide small business support during such a crucial time. We great appreciation , we say Thank You!
