For twenty years I have been a "neutral" for ADR Services, Inc. A neutral is a person who mediates disputes between parties to assist them in reaching a mutual resolution. As a neutral I have also served as an arbitrator, that is, a person hired by disputants to rule on their dispute and enter an award which can then be converted into a judgment. Before my work as a neutral I was a Judge of the Superior Court of California. During my twenty years on the Superior Court Bench I settled or conducted trials dealing with the full spectrum of legal issues. I have been told that I am a patient, courteous and perceptive judge who has the capacity to quickly grasp issues, and that I am effective in guiding parties toward resolution. The validity of this observation is supported by attorneys who return to hire me again on their cases.

I am a legal professional and I conduct mediations and arbitrations for a company which sets up legal proceedings for attorneys. This company has taken major efforts to create virtual settings over Zoom so that other legal professionals and I can carry on our work. The owner and her staff have adopted very well to the crisis. Her efforts have been incredible. I really don't know if our business suffered much. Initially (2020) there was some reduction in business; however, after she set up the virtual media, our business began to rebound. Now that we see how well we can function remotely, some of us are probably going to want to continue in the virtual setting rather than return to in person meetings.
