Back in 2016 I was diagnosed with stage IIIb breast cancer and had to hire three people to temporarily carry out the day-to-day operations of my business and they were wonderful. Once I was ready to get back to work, I was able to take back my route as a dog walker. Once I realized that I still needed help and my wonderful crew of three were gone I had to hire the next round of helpers. I don’t know what has happened to the workforce but there’s definitely a lack of work ethic and it seems like this new generation of the working force does not know what hard work is. The three new hires couldn’t even last one week and most called a no-show on Friday and told me that the job was too physically demanding. After 12 years of being in the business, it is hard work, I won’t lie, but these kids are half my age! If you’re a parent, please put a shovel in your childs hands and teach them what hard work really is.
