Once I was asked the question "how do I get into shape like you?" I responded by asking them "how bad do you want it?" I showed some young guys (everyone is always younger than me) an exercise on the TRX that sculpts your core and they complained that it was too hard. "What", I exclaimed, "you... I showed some young guys (everyone is always younger than me) an exercise on the TRX that sculpts your core and they complained that it was too hard. "What", I exclaimed, "you want it easy?" The amount of effort determines your results. Simple solution but challenging for some to execute. Having a partner (spouse, buddy, or personal trainer) to encourage you can make it fun and easier. Mix up your exercises to create muscle confusion takes the boredom out of it.

The four steps to better fitness (and losing weight if that is your goal) are Sleep, Nutrition, Attitude and Proper exercise. Each of these steps are equally important. Not performing each of these steps lowers your odds of success in your fitness program. The most prevalent misstep is not designing an exercise program that utilizes proper form and function. The next misstep is nutrition. 100 calories of a simple carb is not the same as 100 calories of protein. Attitude seems to be an issue with most people having in their minds that "it is too hard" or "I can't lose the weight" (actually, it's body fat that they should be measuring) even before they start. And with our busy work weeks, sleep is something that many people don't pay any attention to.

Now, mind you, a degree signifies that you have gone through more of a curriculum than a certificate. However, education tends to focus a lot more on theoretical fitness and in many cases, may be akin to overtraining. A certification from a nationally respected and recognized organization is more focused on practical knowledge that can be applied directly towards fitness training. The most important requirement, in my opinion, is that the fitness trainer actually cares for his/her clients. The complete fitness trainer will understand the clients' fitness goals and physical attributes and custom fits the training sessions. There should be no cookie cutter type workouts. Every individual is different.

An upbeat, positive, friendly, can do it attitude is what I look for.

By example. Yes, in total agreement with Kyle. I am 68 and many people comment on how they would like to be in the same fitness level as me. You also have to be an encourager. Be positive, positive, positive. (more) By example. Yes, in total agreement with Kyle. I am 68 and many people comment on how they would like to be in the same fitness level as me.
