I tried it for a property description but ended up writing my own because it doesn’t take into consideration the nuances of how people speak and write in my particular area. I got married on 11/30, so this year has silver linings.

It was a natural transition to real estate sales. I love homes, people and having work that changes with each transaction. The down side is I find it hard to take time off because if I miss a call it can mean a sale, so I haven't taken much vacation in the past 10 years. I use my design background to design my own newsletter and note cards.

I've felt like taking time for myself will cost me business. Realtors work on commission only and we don't get paid if an escrow doesn't close. The one thing I've learned while sheltering in place is that having time for rest, reading, cooking, exercise, doing things around the house and just slowing down has created much needed balance.

I'm grateful to still feel really motivated. I think a new brokerage could reenergize you. I volunteer for a local chamber and I attend mixers and meet new people. I get referrals from past clients. I have people who find me on Yelp, Zillow and Realtor.com. I meet people at open houses and through networking groups. I just get out into the world and let people know I sell real estate but I do it in a way that isn't pushy. (more) I get referrals from past clients.
