About Us

Pottery is my passion. My goal was to make my hobby into a thriving business, creating functional ware and souvenirs for the locale. I make personalized mugs and special memory bowls for all occasions, memorialize your special departed 4-legged friend with a 'heart', or welcome a child with a hanging ornament... I'm always creating new pieces. Imagination is an awesome tool!

How We Got Started

The hankering to make pottery began more years ago than I care to remember. Unfortunately I never had the chance to reconnect with it until my 50th birthday, when I decided to give it a go. From then the hobby grew into a full-time job in 2015 and I've truly become "a pot addict", as I'm unable to stop making more pieces...!

There are definite signs that some folk are actively supporting small local businesses rather than big faceless corporations.  This is very gratifying, however, I hope it's not just a trend while we are under a pandemic. I hope that the habit will have formed and remain.  This is a great opportunity to cultivate new customers into repeat customers. 2021 looks like it will get better as we tread forward and the vaccines are rolled out... Good luck to all!

My biggest success is being able to offer the customer unique handmade art to fit their needs whether it's for their home or a gift for a friend. They sometimes have an idea of what they'd like and we work together to perfect it. It is about 13" high and 17" across. It looks like an old English church and one of my friends installed stained glass in the windows from an actual church!  It has been sitting in our artists co-op as part of the Christmas display and today a customer came in and fell in love with it and purchased it!  I'm so excited. It's very gratifying when a stranger decides to invest in a piece of artwork; a piece of my artwork and take it home! WOW. It's taken all year to get to this point but I feel sure 2020 is going to be even better. Best wishes to all this Christmastime - peace and prosperity!

As an artist in Hummingbird Fine Crafts co-operative, the artists are putting on a monthly event to get the word out and promote our artwork because we are a newly-formed group and run a bricks and mortar store between us. It's a great opportunity for the public to make a purchase of a unique piece and at the same time begin to get to know the artist who made it.  I think this way repeat customers become more likely if not a reality.

Now I had to go for it and was excited about the possibilities, if a little apprehensive. It has been and continues to be a journey of exploration not just with the creation of pottery pieces but with the dealings of business such as marketing and sales and tax filing and the social media platform etc!  Suddenly I have to wear multiple hats and figure out the business end of things. Pottery by Jezz continues to evolve and I've been fortunate to have tapped into the knowledge of some great minds for assistance.  I have found several consignment stores who carry my product in the Tulsa and surrounding area.  I continue to think of new artwork to create. I like my pottery to be attractive but also functional. Putting my heart and soul in to my work makes it very personal and I love it when someone purchases a piece. It's very gratifying. Everyday is a gift... Don't waste a minute. Follow your heart!

Hardware stores definitely! They provide such a personal service and usually share knowledge if there is a particular project you want to tackle. Convenient location and personal service is sorely missing with the large box stores sadly. (more) Hardware stores definitely!
