Knowing what to charge for photographic services was my biggest challenge. Since I did a lot of assisting when I started, I had the opportunity to ask questions to professional photographers. Learned that cheap pricing is demeaning to the profession. As a result, I continue to provide fair pricing for quality work. In addition, I still get together with professional peers and consult with one another. Digital certainly has changed the game in our field. My one and only recommendation to anyone starting out, you should assist a professional. Get your feet wet by gaining experience on the job and not take advantage of a client and learn on their dime. Start getting clients when you have solid experience in lighting, posing, and knowing your equipment. Not just because someone said that your photos are great....
