I think some of the trust would come from interacting with the owner of the business. As a local business owner it is important for me to get to know my clients and there needs even if their needs are different than what I can offer. I can be a resource which builds value to my business.

I completely agree Lynn.  I have literally reached out to hundreds of people (one person at a time) and helped make a difference in their life at that moment which had nothing to do with my business but that's the kind of person I am.  But at some point its equally important to be sustainable so 'balance' is not always easy when you care for others first.  How do you balance this?
