About Us

Kepler College offers online webinars, workshops and intensive online courses in astrological studies. Anyone with an interest and an internet connection is welcome to join.

We offer one to two community webinars each month that are freely available. We also have short online workshops. These all cover a wide range of astrological information and levels of astrological knowledge.

Our intensive courses require students to spend at least 8-10 hours per week on the course work (most of these courses are 10 weeks in length).

The introductory course (Fundamentals I) takes apart the astrological chart so that students can understand how each symbol is incorporated into an astrological interpretation. By the end of this course, students are able to create a basic chart interpretation without using any outside materials.

Each additional course builds on the core understanding of the chart. Students learn and work with multiple perspectives and methodologies so they can effectively develop their own preferred approach. Astronomical, ethical, historical, psychological, philosophical and spiritual considerations are discussed at all levels so students can understand not only the promise but the pitfalls of astrological practice.

How We Got Started

Kepler got started with the dream of an academic college by Maggie Nalbandian, a Seattle-area astrologer. This dream succeeded in 2000, when Kepler was granted authorization to grant BA and MA degrees by the State of Washington. We were unfortunately unable to keep that portion of our school going after the economic downturn in the late 2000s and the academic program closed in 2012. But that did not stop our desire to offer high quality education for astrologers.

Always find someone (even better if it is more than one) who can check your ideas, offer ones you never even thought of, tell you when they think you are going off in the wrong direction or when you are stuck too long in one place. I find this is absolutely necessary. This past year I actively sought dialog with everyone I work with, with our customers & students and with other business people. It enabled us to redefine and clarify who we are, look to new areas for growth, and begin a necessary change in how we design and offer our courses.

For our process, we are looking for three essential skills: the first is their ability to present a subject in a logical and clear fashion that builds the student's knowledge. Next is how well they can handle questions - Are they respectful of the student in their answers. Do they take the time to understand the question if it is not entirely clear. Can they utilize more than one option to explain their answer (including audio, visual and the use of metaphors and analogies). If the question is not part of the topic at hand, how skillful are they at giving just enough information to let the person know they have heard their question but that they are not going to give a full answer because it is not an the appropriate venue or sufficient time right then. Third is their ability to accept and incorporate feedback from students on how successfully they were able to teach.
