How We Got Started
I have been licensed in residential real estate sales since 2001, and I am passionate about this full-time career! Raised in Skokie, I have spent a lifetime on Chicago's North Shore, northern and northwest suburbs. That qualifies me as your area expert! I bring years of real estate successes and corporate experience in business management, consulting, sales and marketing (and hopefully, some of fun and laughs), to your transaction.

I disagree about the value of open houses. In fact, I believe they are more useful now than they were in the past. I haven't seen a recent statistic, but in the old days (early 2000's), open houses accounted for about 6% of home purchases. With so much real estate information online now, buyers...

I disagree about the value of open houses. In fact, I believe they are more useful now than they were in the past. I haven't seen a recent statistic, but in the old days (early 2000's), open houses accounted for about 6% of home purchases. With so much real estate information online now, buyers can see for themselves when open houses are being hosted. After seeing photos and reading the information online, they take the opportunity to come to the open house to see it in person. A good, local real estate agent will have a pretty good idea about which homes will draw traffic and those that likely won't. In any case, it is still a great arrow in the real estate agent's quiver, it shows your clients that you are doing everything you can to sell the house, and it is still a great lead generator for agents when done the right way.

We are keepers of the knowledge and of the resources, and should explain why getting pre-approved before falling in love with a home is so important. As for you, new agent, I would suggest you make a rule for yourself. It can be anything, but do it consistently. Perhaps you decide you would be willing to show only one house to a prospective buyer without pre-approval. Perhaps you decide not to start showing homes to a buyer without one. You run a real estate business, after all; so, you get to choose how and on whom you want to spend your time and energy. A smart brokerage owner once said to me: "You don't know your own value until you've said 'no.'" Welcome to the business and good luck!

Second half of 2019 continues to be really great in my real estate business. I don't resign myself to a 4th quarter market slump that many of my colleagues expect and experience at this time of year. As such, I don't experience it, and neither do my clients. I wish for my Alignable community...
