I've been on both sides of cold calling. As a web designer, I used to believe that having a good web presence was the best way to make sales. Well, I still believe having a professional web presence is vital it's only a good sales Channel when somebody finds your website or Facebook or other forms of web presence. Unless you're spending lots of money on SEO this is your you're going to need to promote yourself and one of the ways is to do cold calling. I think when cold calling is done in the right way can be very effective. I think the reason why people often gets scared about the idea of cold calling or getting cold callers in their business is they have the misconception that a pushy salesman is going to come through the door and not let them leave until they make the sale. For the record, I believe that this is the wrong way to do cold calling any form of business needs people to thrive. If you go into a cold call with the intention of building a relationship and genuinely finding out if they're if your goods and services would be good for them rather than just determined to make a sale I think you'd be a better chance at success and I think then cold calling would be very effective.
