I couldn’t pay myself, and I’m falling into the red fast due to taxes due... I may never get caught up. I have to survive, I have dogs I need to feed, the stress is ruining my health... and I’m a Latin/white mix female! I have gym members bringing me dog food and food for me so I can eat, I live in my gym and cook and shower around my schedule and gym members...it’s gotten that bad!!!😭

Golden principle: do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Treating my members/clients with respect, dignity, and showing integrity. Charging fair but competitive prices, trying to work with members during trying times with them, i.e. we have two members that cannot pay dues but they help with cutting our grass and basic maintenance. We also display patience and honesty, and offer athlete sponsorships. We try to get involved with our community i.e. Toys for Tots drive, food/winter coat drives, and pet adoptions. I pride myself on knowing every member by name, and being personable with each one.

We are still having both membership holds and freezes. However, we are getting a few new members, but it seems to every new member that joins, we are seeing 2 members canceling or freezing memberships. In the long run, we have had to let childcare go, our front desk assistant go, and now we are about to have to let go of our class instructors. I will be adding a virtual BodyPump class on my page for those that want to opt for that over Boot Camp classes, but they will have to continue their gym membership to participate. I've slowly added one-on-one Nutrition camps as well as Gua-Sha treatments (which is my personal income, since I cannot pay myself from the gym funds). We keep our gym clean, and I try to enforce our members to sanitize equipment before and after use, for peace of mind. In the area that I live, no one cares for themselves the way the should, there are tremendous overweight and unhealthy people that do not visit gym on regular basis. My husband and I are contemplating of moving ourselves and our gym) to another state and area that are more self aware and health conscientious.

Now, I face having to lay off my staff just to pay bills and rent.... things are not looking good at all since gym members have either canceled or put a hold on their membership. We've lost 60% of members and income and face a hard decision to possibly close down. We are homeless and currently live in our gym, now we face loosing it. We did not get PPP loan from Ameris bank because we were only in business for 1 year prior (which is bullshit). We switched banks due to this issue. We put every penny from our other jobs into my gym to keep it going, in turn getting evicted from where we live, now I face loosing everything, my life my dream, my passion. This has not been a good year at all, and it seems every time I turn around there is a new problem, and having to pay for them. Operating at 40% revenue is not covering all the gyms expenses, and having my husbands restaurant shut down hurt us all around.
It's scary to face the unknown, and possibly loose everything that I've worked so hard for and inherited from my family. I can deal with going hungry, but I can't deal with my dogs going hungry and I cannot face loosing everything. Might as well just kill myself and let my dogs become beneficiaries!!!

I would also like to add Ameris bank, who I used to bank with denied me the PPP Loan, all on the account we only had this gym 1 month shy of 1 year.... UNBELEIVABLE!!!! Everyone, from the bottom all the way to the top, is having to make sacrifices and make a dollar stretch, show leniency, and support each other. I have seen the most beautiful come out in people, but I also have seen the most ugly come out in people. My family was almost evicted out of the house we rent, because I was more concerned about staying good on the gym rent and utilities. We are still hanging on by a thread with house rent, and pray the home landlord's heart of black coal will soften up.
The "Covid shut-down" has severely caused socio-economic distress as well as emotional distress on so many, including myself. It was unneeded!
