As a singer/songwriter in California, my gigs took a dramatic hit. At first I lost about 90% of them to cancellation. Then I was hired to do a few online shows for a winery, then a few venues opened back up again for live music. With social distancing I only accept outdoor gigs, and those venues offer reservation-only seating, so I feel pretty safe. As more and more venues get accustomed to shifting to outdoor seating, more and more opportunities arise for me to play again. The only hard thing is adjusting to the summer heat, and most venues wanting "covid-19 pricing". I've even had restaurants ask me to come play for free due to their hardships. I lowered my fee about 30% and it's all that I can do before it is not worth the trip. In the mean time I focus on printing more CDs as I am currently out, and developing new songs.
