This has become more common as new carriers and agents enter the market and compete for the same business. While it's still harder to win the price argument for auto insurance than in property insurance, there are tools agents have at their disposal. It's true people want low price over any other quality. You have to express knowledge and professionalism with an understanding of the products flexible characteristics. For example, you have to be able to explain Replacement Cost vs ACV to a client who wants to under insure their home. Carriers also need to communicate with their agents and be flexible by allowing lower Cov A percentages for homeowners policy components. They need to address "other structures" when there are none. Offer lower amount options for contents and additional living expenses for secondary homes. Offer discounts for combining other coverages, etc.
