(more) After learning the basics of EFT, which is rooted in Dr. Callahan's TFT (thought field therapy) modality, my first "client" was my step-father who had fallen off a ladder while building our first home. He was a strong German-English man who didn't like to talk about this "problem with heights" afterwards and for years I never knew until I discovered TFT on a TV infomercial back in the early 1990s. I paid $2000 to learn the program and my dad was first on the list after I mentioned hearing about a system that would help people with phobias. I knew that if this worked, he would tell me so directly. We tried it out and then went up on the roof using a long ladder. I went first and stood by the edge of the roof, then he followed. Going to the middle of the roof first, he gradually worked his way towards me. He finally stood next to me, looked down and said, "Something's different." That was the end of his fear of heights and the associated fears of driving over bridges, around curvy roads with no guard rails and getting up on ladders. A few months later he took on re-roofing the house by himself, hauling bundles of shingles up the ladder over his shoulder, one at a time. After he was done, he told me quietly, "I don't know what you did, but I didn't have any problems spending a week up on the roof, doing the repairs. Thank you, so much!" From that point I got some business cards made and put some ads in the local free papers. Later, with my ex-wife, we made this healing work known to a local church group and offered training and private sessions in teaching people, young and old, about the value of this simple "tapping" technique, which can be self-applied at any time for any reason. We always guaranteed our sessions with a "It works or there is no charge" promise and our success rate was nearly 100% no matter what the root of the problem was and how long it had lasted. This is effective therapy for cases of sexual abuse, emotional abuse, physical abuse and accidents, grief and most types of unresolved emotional traumas. It has been a privilege to know and share this simple, but powerful healing work. My best clients were ones who doubted the ability of the process to work. Grown, staunch men have wept when I just had them repeat the words: "I deeply and sincerely accept myself, with all my faults, fears and failures that are physical, spiritual, mental and emotional." Just saying that phrase, while doing the tapping sequence, initiates the beginning of deep and lasting emotional healing.
