They have grown more special over the last 15 years in some cases. Just seeing the same "dignitaries" year after year gives a certain comfort.
That being said, and what follows is purely my opinion and I can certainly be incorrect. But the Country Clubs, Associations, and School Events I have had the pleasure to work with, one thing remains constant. Consistency.
The 1.5"-2" black frame with anti-glare, plex-glass cover has always worked, and yet remains consistent with the images taken decades prior to me. Again, my opinion, individuals walking through wish to see their friends and loved ones from the past and reflect. They do not not wish to see a frame.
People skills, salesmanship and quality photography has carried me thus far, would love to go further, but very happy over the years. I have images hanging over 15 years old now down hallways and in auditoriums, I did not wish to "break" from the past, just carry during my part.
If I were to market specialized frames, I believe I would do families. Families that realize and cherish our most valuable, our children and family itself. They would have a decor that required consultation, hence fee. Created the image (charge), frame it (charge again) and even hang it for them ... (free) no work comp!
Stepping inside of a hallway, or wall of the past, yes there are different styles of photography, dress, and hairstyles etc. but that is what made the era. The frames may even be slightly different, but ... never the story.
