Why would someone try to negotiate a company down to the cheapest price, if that means the company cannot do the best job at a lower price?

Many businesses do work with integrity; sadly there are many others such as large corporate giants that do not. To illustrate take our our telecommunications companies - they change the pricing structure often; make changing services and plant difficult without added cost, to exclusively pad the bottom line. Therefore, if you ask you can sometimes get a better price or a deal. With this being said, I would not walk into a mom and pop business and expect to ask for a better deal - these are people trying to make a living and we as consumers either support them of look elsewhere. I would love to live in a world where integrity and honorable people are operating in business, but the reality is there is a lot of greed and selfishness in the consumer world of goods and services.
