We are opposed to the $15.00 minimum wage. (1) Why isn't anyone talking about a compromise like $10.00? (2) It doesn't take in consideration the restaurant world, where there is considerable opportunity to make additional money through tips. (3) The current tax laws require us to account for and pay withholding taxes on the tips even though it was money not given to us. (4) With a dramatic hike in the minimum wage, and the combined tax burden on the restaurant we will probably be forced to lay off or cut back the hours of our servers, which is clearly counter productive to economic policy intent.
