How Have You Used Sites Such as Angie's List, Handy, Thumbtack and YP to Get More Home Services Customers?

We personally have been using Angie's List for the past 5 years. In the beginning (when we had no customer base) we used their deals section to give the customers some incentive to have us come out. Those deals began to build our reviews. Most of our deals were for discountedtuneups or service calls. Small price to pay to get in the door and be able to find something bigger. Our reviews have steadily grown over the past 5 years earning us the Super Service Award 4 years running. We have not offered ANY "deals" the past 2 years and our reputation is now speaking for itself. We are no longer getting the people looking for deals but the people that are looking for quality!! We do pay for "advertising" with them but out of all the advertising avenues we have tried Angie's List has by far the best return on investment for us.
Sounds like a great strategy to get some social proof. Make sure you get those testimonials on your own website and not just on the site that Angie's list has for your business. You want to be in control in case things change down the road.
