I've read all of the posts and almost everyone is trying their best but it just cannot be answered. I do disagree with Mr.Copemen regarding agents vs. brokers. No offense but with 18 years in the business, I see it this way: Insurance Brokers are AGENTS. However An Adviser who is a broker is an independent agent. His/her first fiduciary obligation is to the client. A broker has access to many insurance companies and plan choices. The goal is to find the most appropriate plan for the client's needs. Brokers typically are not driven by bonus programs or company trips. Insurance (company) agents have a first fiduciary responsibility to the company they work for. Their plan selections are limited to those the company offers. Most all company agents are "captive" to the company. Generally bonus programs and trips factor in to their earning potential and can potentially color their plan selections.  Either way a good agent or broker is a good health insurance adviser who will refer out a case that is better suited to a plan he/she does not have access to.
