Advocacy
1. Individual Advocacy: Individual Advocacy is pleading a person’s cause or speaking supporting or writing in support of that person’s cause. Sometimes a person with a disability has difficulty getting benefits and services or accessing the community programs that he/she may be entitled to. Our focus will be to assist you and to help yourself in these situations by learning advocate effectively for yourself. You will find these principles of “Self Help” and “Self Advocacy” at the core of all of your interactions with the center. Center staff will be there to support you in your efforts and can advocate on your behalf when self advocacy is not possible.
