When getting around a proposal for a potential client, I count man hours. Lets say $40.00 per man hour. If I have 3 guys on a job for 1 hour that equals 3 man hours. I count my self as one of the guys on the job. When doing this it gives me reassurance that I as an individual am getting pay. So if I'm on a job along with 2 other guys, all together as a team were making $120.00 per hour. If I'm paying a guy $25.00 per hour, that's a 37.5% profit on that individual. Out of that $120.00 per hour, I'm making $70.00 per hour. I'm turning a 58.3% profit.
We as small business owners have to think about pay. Although I absolutely love what I do for a living, I am doing this for a pay check to provide for not only my family but others families as well.
